Three members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested in Delhi's Rohini
Delhi: An encounter erupted between Delhi Police Special Cell and Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Sector 36 of Rohini area of Delhi on Saturday after which three members of the gang were arrested, media reports said.
Media reports said the police laid a trap near Barwala-Bawana Road in Delhi based on a tip-off to apprehend the gang members.
Police said they were warned and asked to surrender but the gang members fired three to four rounds to escape from the spot, after which the police had to open fire in retaliation.
A policeman was hit by a bullet during the firing but the bulletproof jacket he was wearing saved him, said an India Today report.
Police managed to overpower the assailants and arrested three people on the spot --- Naveen, Manoj and Karambi and recovered three pistols and 11 cartridges from them.
All three are in their 20s and natives of Jhajjar in Haryana, said the report.
The three men were in contact with gangster Goldy Brar, who lives in Canada, through Signal app.
He had arranged money, weapons, and shelter for them to bring down a target, whose identity was to be revealed on the day of execution.
Police said they were history-sheeters wanted in a case of armed robbery in a Gurugram liquor shop.
They were introduced to Goldy Brar by Priyavrat Fauji, one of the shooters arrested in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
Earlier on Saturday, Punjab Police arrested a gang member of the gang, who had allegedly given shelter to two killers of Congress leader Sidhu Moosewalla, in Kharar and recovered 11 pistols from him.
Manpreet Singh alias Bhima, 25, a native of Doraha, Ludhiana had given shelter to shooters Jagroop Singh Rupa and Manpreet Singh alias Manu Kussa at his Kharar house before they killed singer Sidhu Moosewala on May 29, The Tribune reported.
