Delhi: AAP leader Amanatullah Khan arrested by ACB after raids
Delhi: AAP leader Amanatullah Khan, whose premises were raided by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday in connection with a two-year-old corruption case, was arrested in the late evening, media reports said.
The Okhla MLA was summoned for questioning in connection with alleged irregularities in the recruitment in the Delhi Waqf Board. The case was lodged in 2020 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The interrogation started at 12 pm today.
The Delhi Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) Friday raided AAP leader Amanatullah Khan's house and five other properties and seized Rs 12 lakh in cash and an unlicensed weapon, reported India Today.
The ACB, a unit of Delhi Police arrested Khan after recovery of "incriminating material and evidence against him" during the searches, officials said.
According to officials, a crowd gathered outside the AAP MLA's residence and tried to disrupt the raids.
The Anti Corruption Branch, Delhi has lodged two FIRS in South-East district--- one pertaining to the recovery of illegal weapons and the other FIR relating to manhandling of the police party by relatives of Amanatullah Khan, said the report.
