Chandigarh: Three accused-- one woman and two men -- have been arrested in connection with the Chandigarh University ladies' hostel leaked video case, media reports said.

The lawyer of the female student, arrested in the case, has accepted that the accused made severaobjectionable videos of girls, according to an India Today report.

The police registered an FIR on September 18 under section 354C of IPC and 66 C of IT act.

Police took action after hostel manager Ritu Ranot filed an FIR after six girls complained to the hostel warden on September 17 at 3:00 pm that the accused had been making objectionable videos of other students.

The complainants, as well as the accused, were called to the manager's office.

According to the FIR, when the manager checked the phone she found several photos and videos deleted.

Calls and messages kept on coming when the phone was still with the manager. It has been alleged that they were from the phone number of the accused's boyfriend.

The hostel manager received the call and put it on speaker and asked the caller to send videos, he allegedly forwarded a screenshot to the accused girl's phone, according to an India Today report.

According to FIR, the accused girl has confessed to making objectionable videos of several girls.

This development came just a day after, the hostel authorities that only one video had been leaked.

On Monday, students of Chandigarh University ended their protest after getting assurance from the district and police administration of a fair and transparent investigation.

Chandigarh University will remain closed till September 24 after massive protests by students demanding action on the alleged leak of objectionable videos from its girls’ hostel.

After the incident, a few students left for their homes. The university suspended the girls’ hostel warden, Rajvinder Kaur, for misbehaving with the girl students.

The Punjab Police on Monday formed a three-member special investigation team to probe the allegations of recording objectionable videos of the girls students. The SIT is heaed by senior IPS officer Gurpreet Kaur Deo.

No guilty person involved will be spared, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.

The student protests erupted on Saturday and continued on Sunday over the university’s alleged leaked objectionable videos. The police have arrested a girl and her two boyfriends.

Earlier on Sunday, Himachal Pradesh Police said they have nabbed a second accused in the row.

"Himachal Pradesh Police reacted to request of Punjab Police with sensitivity and professionalism. We nabbed the accused," DGP Sanjay Kundu said on Twitter.
