Srinagar/UNI: An 18-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which was detected on Bandipora-Sopore road, was defused Saturday morning by security forces, officials said.
The suspected IED with two cylinders in tandem was found at Ashtangoo area in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir by joint forces during a cordon and a search operation which was launched following an input about the presence of explosives earlier, they said
"A bomb disposal squad was called and the area was immediately cordoned.
"Using all precautionary measures, the IED was destroyed by forces without any collateral damage,” a security official said.
The traffic on the highway which was suspended after detection of IED has been restored.
