UP: Sons, nephew of mining mafia Haji Iqbal held for gangrape
Saharanpur (UP): The Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case against three sons and a nephew of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLC and mining mafia Haji Iqbal alias Balla on charges of gangrape, a senior police officer said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Vipin Tada said Haji Iqbal's sons -- Ali Shan, Javed and Afzal -- are already in jail, and his nephew Shahban alias Dilshad (26) was arrested on Friday.
Circle Officer of Mirzapur Hriday Narain Singh said the incident happened in March this year.
"The complainant, a resident of Bhajanpura in New Delhi, has alleged that she contacted the four accused in Nand Gokal University for a fake degree," he said.
He said the accused arranged accommodation for the complainant and another woman accompanying her at Gokal University.
"While one woman went to Delhi to bring her certificates, the other one stayed back. It is alleged that the accused gang-raped the second woman. The victim gave a written complaint against the accused," he said.
SSP Tada said Shahban was arrested on Saturday and sent to jail.
