Noida (UP)/IBNS: The Noida Authority has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on owners if their pet dog or cat attacks and also make them responsible for the victim's treatment from March 1, 2023, media reports said.

In the wake of the increase in dog bite incidents in the city and the nearby areas, the Noida Authority held a board meeting on Saturday to discuss the menace of stray dogs and pet attacks, reported India Today.

In case of an injury, the pet owner will be fined Rs 10,000 and also pay for the treatment of the victim or the animal, it said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority has issued an order making it compulsory for the pet-owners to register their pet dogs and cats by March 2023 on the Noida Authority pet registration app.

As per the order, sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs are mandatory and violators will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 per month (from 01.03.2023).

With the consent of RWA/AOA/village residents, the construction of dog shelters for sick/furious/aggressive street dogs will be undertaken, whose maintenance will be the responsibility of the concerned RWA / AOA, Noida Authority decided, according to the report.

Requirement marking of feeding place in outdoor area and arrangement of food and drink will be done by feeders / RWA / AOA only, it added.

Further, if the pet defecates in a public place, it will be the responsibility of the animal owner to clean it.
