Kolkata: The dismembered body of a former Navy officer was recovered from a pond in the Baruipur area of West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, media reports said.

The victim has been identified as Ujjwal Chakraborty, 55, a former Indian Navy non-commissioned officer who retired in 2000, ANI reported citing police sources.

The body was found wrapped in plastic in a pond in Baruipur, said Pushpa, Baruipur Superintendent of Police (SP), the report added.

"The dismembered body of a man was found after a missing complaint was registered on November 15 by his family members," the SP was quoted as saying by ANI.

"The investigation revealed that the victim was an alcoholic and used to assault his son. On November 14, he had a fight with his family and his son attacked him in retaliation. Eventually, the victim died," she said.

After murdering his father, the son disposed of the body parts, police said.

According to the police, his mother also helped in the murder, the report said, adding that other body parts of the victim were recovered near their house.
