CBI files supplementary chargesheet against 8 accused in Bogtui case
Kolkata/UNI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against eight persons accused of killing 10 people at Bogtui village in West Bengal's Rampurhat sub-division eight months back, an official said on Monday.
"The chargesheet, filed before the ACJM Court, Rampurhat, in Birbhum, is in relation to the death of 10 persons while their houses were set on fire at Village-Bogtui, District Birbhum (West Bengal)," the CBI said in a statement.
The CBI registered the case on March 25 against 22 accused and others in compliance with the Calcutta High court order on the same day.
"It was alleged that at about 6-30 PM on March 21, Bhadu Sheikh, deputy head of Barshal Panchayat, was murdered by inflicting bomb blast injuries, at Bogtui on NH-60," the chargesheet said.
"After the incident, tension cropped up in Bogtui and surrounding areas over the issue of the murder. It was further alleged that the followers and associates of slain Bhadu Sheikh ransacked the houses of rival groups in the village and set them on fire with a view to killing them and their family inmates," it said.
As a result, seven persons were charred to death while four others sustained severe burn injuries. Later on, three of the injured victims died.

"The CBI had earlier filed chargesheet on June 20 against 16 accused including the then Block President before the Competent Court and also submitted a report against two Children in Conflict with the Law (CCL) in the Court of Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, Suri, Birbhum.
Further investigation was continuing regarding the involvement of other accused and to unearth the larger conspiracy.
During further investigation, the involvement of the eight accused, not named in the FIR, also emerged and they were arrested on Aug 22.
It was found that the accused among others had participated in the Bogtui carnage that took place on March 21.
Among others, names in the latest chargesheet are Bikir Ali, Nur Ali, Jamirul Sheikh and Hafiz Sheikh.
