Delhi: Acid attack on 17-yr-old girl in Dwarka, LG speaks to CP

New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked with acid by two persons in Delhi’s Dwarka, Mohan Garden Police Station area on Wednesday morning after the incident she is admitted to a hospital for treatment, Police said.

One of the persons has been detained and further investigation is underway to find out actual fact and involvement of another person, informed Police.

The Police received a PCR call at around 9 am regarding an incident of throwing acid on a girl in the area of Mohan Garden Police Station.

It was stated that a 17-years-old girl was allegedly attacked using some acid-like substance by two persons on a bike around 7:30 am in the morning, informed Police.

The girl was with her younger sister when the incident took place. She has raised suspicion over two persons known to them.

The investigation on this matter is underway, police said.

On the acid attack incident, Delhi Commission for Women, Chairperson, Swati Maliwal tweeted and wrote, "In the Country’s capital, two miscreants threw acid on a girl in broad daylight and ran away. Is anyone afraid of the law? Why is acid not banned? "

"Acid was thrown on a girl near Dwarka Mor. Our team is reaching the hospital to help the victim. We will get justice for the daughter. The Delhi Commission for Women has been fighting for years to ban acid in the country. When will the governments wake up?" Maliwal tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Saxena spoke to the Delhi Police Commission regarding this incident.

Delhi Lt Governor spoke to the Police Commissioner about the unfortunate incident of acid attack that took place at Dwarka More today and sought a detailed report into the incident, including as to how the acid used was procured despite a ban in the City, LG Office said in a statement.
