Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday averted a major tragedy by recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from Basantgarh area of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that an IED weighing approximately 15-kg was recovered during a patrol launched on specific inputs.
“An IED-like material in cylindrical shape, explosive (suspected RDX), 7.62mm cartridges, detonators, coded sheet, letter pad page of banned terrorist organisation LeT has been seized from the area of Basantgarh,” they said.
They added that one suspect has also been taken into custody and the matter is being investigated.
