Guntur: Close on the heels of a stampede at Kandukur town in Nellore district four days ago in which 8 persons killed in Chandrababu Naidu’s road-show, in a similar stampede incident, three women were killed and two injured after Naidu addressed them here on Sunday.

Telugu Desam party NRI wing organised distribution of ‘Chandranna gift’ to women on the eve of New Year.

The programme was organised in a function hall at Vikasnagar here.

Initially, Chandrababu Naidu distributed the Chandranna Kanuka bags, which contained a saree and other gifts, to some women. After addressing the crowd Naidu left the auditorium.

Large number of women went forward to get the bags which led to a stampede in which three women were killed. One of them died instantaneously, while two other women died in hospital.

One injured woman was admitted to the GGH and another woman admitted to a private hospital.

The barricades which were erected in the auditoriums to regulate the crowd were crushed and the women fell on the floor resulting in three women killed, the police said. Utter uproar prevailed in the auditoriums with screaming victims and injured women.
