Agartala: Unknown miscreants attacked the parental house of former Tripura Chief Minister and Rajya sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb at Jamjuri of Udaipur in Gomti district on Tuesday night.

Deb said the annual ritual of the departed soul of his father Hirudhan Deb is scheduled on Wednesday and a number of saints and priests were assembled in the house for preparation along with his relatives.

He alleged a number of vehicles and two wheelers were ransacked by the miscreants who pelted bricks in the house but nobody was injured. A large number of police contingent launched a search in the area but nobody is arrested yet.

The Biplab's associates complained the local CPM MLA and former minister Ratan Bhowmik had rounds of meeting with left cadres till the evening following which the attack was carried out.

However, Bhowmik denied the charge and said if police investigates the matter properly who were behind the plot of attack would come out. "CPM never indulge such nefarious acts," he added.
