Centre declares Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen operative Dr Asif Maqbool Dar 'terrorist' under UAPA Act
New Delhi/IBNS: The Home Ministry on Saturday declared Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen operative Dr Asif Maqbool Dar a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.
Dar hails from Jammu Kashmir and is currently based in Saudi Arabia.
This comes close on the heels of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Arbaz Ahmad Mir was designated as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by the MHA.
Mir was the main conspirator in the killing of a Hindu Dogra woman, Rajni Bala, a government teacher.
She was shot dead last year in May in South Kashmir's Kulgam.
According to a media report, the government has also banned the People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), a proxy outfit of the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), for conducting terror operations in Jammu Kashmir and other places.
In a notification, the Centre said that PAFF has been regularly issuing threats to politicians, security forces and civilians from other states working in Jammu Kashmir.
