Congress, TMC slam Jaitley's Budget

India Blooms News Service | | 28 Feb 2015, 03:16 pm
New Delhi, Feb 28 (IBNS) The Congress on Saturday slammed the Union Budget presented by Arun Jaitley and called it a 'vision document'.

"The Budget is just a vision document, a budget in interest of corporates and industrialists," Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge told media.

Congress leader Manish Tewari said, "Budget fails to address the structural reform issues of the Indian Economy. High on intent & low on delivery. Confusion thru detailing."

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) criticised the Budget and called it 'anti-people'.

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra said: "On behalf of the West Bengal Government, I must say this is an ‘anti people’ Budget."

Instead of  big bang announcements, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday presented the GeneralBudget 2015-16 focusing on infrastructure, cleanliness, social security and assuring a high growth trajectory while envisaging stricter laws on black money offenders.

While Jaitley said growth would accelerate  between 8 and 8.5 percent in the coming fiscal year and the pace of cutting the fiscal deficit would be slow, the corporate India reacted positively to the budget calling it incremental and creative.

The finance minister said  7.4 percent GDP is expected for the current fiscal year.
