Tripura polls: Ahead of Modi's visit, JP Nadda to release BJP's manifesto tomorrow
Agartala/UNI: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda is all set to release the manifesto for Tripura assembly polls on Thursday, a day before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the poll-bound state.
Tripura is going for a poll on Feb 16 and the counting to be held on March 2 next.
Nadda will release the election manifesto for Tripura during his second phase of election campaign, which got clearance from the top brasses of the party and the central government to ensure that the commitment to be fulfilled in due course of time, BJP sources said.
The ruling party has been facing severe criticism from the opposition for allegedly not implementing the poll promises they had made before 2018 assembly elections, which appeared to be one of the biggest challenges of the party in this election.
Besides oppositions, the BJP candidates have also been facing embarrassment from the voters during door to door campaign on poll promises, they pointed out.
"Since development of Tripura is largely dependent on central assistance, before making any commitment in the manifesto, we have brought the matter to the notice of the central government, especially from the Prime Minister.
"The Chief Minister who has already been projected as next CM does not want to make any impracticable promise this time," the leader stated.
"All the opposition parties have already released their manifestos with the promises based on the locally available and possible options.
However, BJP wants to harness the benefit of its advantage of being in power at the Centre in the election manifesto and there will be some exciting short term commitment," he claimed.
Nadda is scheduled to address two public rallies after releasing the election manifesto to highlight the party promises and the ways to implement it.
According to reports, the PM will hold a mega rally at Udaipur covering 23 constituencies of three districts – South Tripura, Gomati and Sepahijala districts on Feb 11.
On Feb 13, PM Modi will again visit the state to wind up the election campaign of BJP and hold a rally in Dharmanagar covering 17 constituencies of three districts – North Tripura, Unakoti and Dhalai districts.
