Amid inclement weather, authorities issues avalanche warning in 12 districts of Kashmir

Srinagar/UNI: Amid snowfall over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, the authorities have issued an avalanche warning in twelve districts of the Union Territory for the next 24 hours.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) issued a ‘Medium Level’ avalanche warning for the people living above 2000 to 2500 metres in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, in north Kashmir and Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts of Jammu region.

The authority also expressed apprehension of ‘Low Level’ avalanche occurrence above 2000 to 2500 metres over the Jammu division's Reasi, Rajouri and Ramban districts.

People living in these areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing out into avalanche-prone areas unless necessary.
