Gyalsung Infra Project of Bhutan: India pledges to invest Rs 2 billion
Thimpu: India has extended grant assistance of Rs 2 billion for the Gyalsung Infra Project, a move that aims to further strengthen the relationship between neighbours.
India envoy to Bhutan Sudhakar Dalela has presented a first tranche of grant assistance of Rs 1 Billion to the Project Director of Gyalsung Infra at the Semtokha Dzong during a special event, confirmed the Indian Embassy in Bhutan.
"Ambassador @SudhakarDalela participated at a special ceremony at Simtokha Dzong to mark the GoI’s engagement with Gyalsung Initiative and to hand over an initial grant assistance of INR 1 billion to the Gyalsung Project, steered by His Majesty's Secretariat," read the tweet issued by the Embassy.

As per the official website, the Gyalsung is envisioned as a one-year integrated training program mandatory for all youths attaining the age of 18 and if in school – upon completion of grade twelve.

The one-year training will include three months of basic military training followed by nine months of specialized training in various fields ranging from home construction technologies, computing and entrepreneurship to focused development of skills in agriculture.
The objective of the Gyalsung is to provide direction and encourage our youth to be strong, independent thinkers, capable of serving the country, read the website.
