PM Narendra Modi wishes Nigeria's President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu for winning the presidential elections in Nigeria and said he looks forward to further strengthening the bilateral ties under his leadership.

In a tweet, the PM said: “I congratulate H.E. Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu for winning the Presidential elections."

“Look forward to further strengthening India-Nigeria bilateral relations under your leadership," he said.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 70, has been elected as Nigeria's president. He succeeds Muhammad Buhari, a former army general.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, garnered 8.79 million votes – the highest number, in the elections.
