New Delhi/UNI: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) G Kishan Reddy on Saturday expressed his gratitude to the people of people of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya for reposing their faith on BJP and its ally in the recent Assembly elections by voting for peace, prosperity and growth.

"The electoral victory is a definitive endorsement for BJP's people-oriented governance and growth orientation. The recent electoral victory is an affirmation from the people of the Northeast region that they will partner with us till we achieve the goal of establishing the region as the growth engine of India," he said.

Reddy further said that this electoral victory is the manifestation of people’s blessings for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unprecedented efforts towards ushering in development in the region and standing tall as the 'lighthouse' of the NE region.

"Nine years back poorvottar (North East) was about strife, violence, poverty & political neglect. Today, the region is about development, connectivity, empowerment & equality," the minister said.

Reddy said since 2014 (after BJP came to power at the Centre), over Rs five lakh crore have been spent in the NE region to bolster development till the last mile.

He also claimed that unlike his predecessor, the PM has himself visited the region almost 50 times and has ensured that Union Ministers visit the remotest corners of the region every 15 days, setting an example in politics of performance.
