UP CM Yogi Adityanath calls emergency meeting, sets up three-member team to probe Atiq Ahmed, Ashraf's killings
Lucknow/IBNS: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called a meeting with senior officials of the state police, including the Director General of Police (DGP) and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), after the shocking on camera killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj by unidentified attackers despite police security.
Sources reported that the meeting is being held at the residence of CM Yogi in Lucknow, who is reportedly upset about the sudden killing of Atiq and Ashraf.
Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath ordered a three-member judicial inquiry commission into the killing of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed.

On the killings, Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma told reporters, “Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were being taken for medical tests, when three people approached them posing as media persons and shot at them, killing them on the spot.”
Three people have been arrested and they are being interrogated, said the Police Commissioner.
A journalist was also injured as he fell and a constable sustained a bullet injury, he added.
A forensic team is at the scene and collecting evidence.
Meanwhile, CrPC Section 144 was imposed in all the districts of UP, in the aftermath of the killing of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed.
At around 10 pm, Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were killed while being taken to the hospital by police for a medical checkup. The incident was captured on camera as journalists were following the handcuffed duo.
Police have said the bullet-riddled bodies of Ahmed and Ashraf were taken away from the spot as tension gripped the area after the sensational killings.
