Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur stopped at Amritsar Airport
Amritsar: Absconding Khalistani separatist leader Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur has been detained at the Amritsar Airport while she was trying to flee to London, media reports said.
Immigration Authorities stopped her from boarding the flight.
Kirandeep Kaur was going to take the London flight on Thursday at 1:30 pm but she was detained by the customs officials.
Media reports said that Kirandeep has not been arrested and is only being questioned by the officials.
India Today reported citing officials that she will not be allowed to leave the country as she is required for investigation purposes here in India.
The officials stopped Kirandeep Kaur as there is already a circular in place stating that close aides/relatives of Amritpal cannot leave the country.
According to Punjab Police sources, Kirandeep is a British citizen and holds a UK passport.
There are no cases filed against her in Punjab or any other part of the country.
There is no solid proof or FIR registered by the central agencies or the Punjab Police, suggesting that Kirandeep Kaur is an active member of Babbar Khalsa International while residing in the UK.
Kirandeep Kaur has been held into custody as a preventive measure, using the same legal process applied to the family and acquaintances of the absconding accused, India Today.
