Kolkata/IBNS: Extending her support to the wrestlers protesting at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday called for support towards their demand.

Taking to her Twitter, Banerjee said, "Our sportspersons are the pride of our nation. They are champions."

"We must all stand with the wrestlers who are protesting. They are speaking in one voice," she said.

The chief minister added, "The guilty must be brought to book, irrespective of their political affiliation. Justice must prevail. Truth must win."

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya, and Deepak Punia have been protesting against Wrestling Federation India boss Brijbhushan Sharan Singh over alleged sexual harassment.

The protesting wrestlers are demanding the government take action on their complaint.

Bajrang Punia said they have been waiting for three months for justice.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had earlier formed the committee to look into the allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its chief.

The committee submitted its report on April 5. But the ministry has not yet made public the findings of the six-member committee.
