Jiah Khan's mother destroyed case of prosecution by giving contradictory evidence: Court

Mumbai/IBNS: Jiah Khan's mother Rabia Khan destroyed "the case of prosecution" by giving "contradictory evidence", said a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the death by suicide case of the late actor.

The court said as quoted by NDTV, "The complainant (Rabia Khan) in her evidence directly blamed both the investigating agencies stating that they had not conducted a proper and correct investigation.

"By giving such open contradictory evidence, the complainant himself has destroyed the case of the prosecution."

The special CBI court in Mumbai on Friday acquitted Bollywood star Sooraj Pancholi in the death by suicide case of actor Jiah Khan.

Sooraj, who was the boyfriend of Jiah Khan, has been acquitted due to "paucity of evidence". He was arrested on charges of abetment.

Sooraj was arrested on the basis of a six-page letter purportedly written by Jiah.

Jiah, 25, was found hanging at her home in Mumbai's Juhu on June 3, 2013.

Jiah's mother Rabia Khan had alleged her daughter was murdered and she didn't die of suicide.

Sooraj, the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, could have landed up in jail for 10 years if convicted.

He was arrested by police in June 2013 and he was out on bail a month later.
