25 pc discount in Mumbai Metro for senior citizens, disabled and students: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday announced that senior citizens, disabled, and students will now be able to travel in Mumbai Metro at discounted rates.
These categories of people can avail of a discount of 25 percent from May 1 onwards.
Thousands of passengers in this category using the Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card will get this discount.
Mahamumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited and MMRDA have given this gift on the occasion of Maharashtra Day.
Senior citizens, students, and disabled passengers will get this discount on Mumbai-1 Pass for 45 trips or 60 trips.
Speaking in this regard, CM Shinde said that the Mumbai Metro network has been designed keeping in mind the needs and safety of senior citizens, disabled and children, so they must get the maximum benefit of these facilities.
"Earlier we have made ST bus travel free for senior citizens and women have also been given 50 percent discount on ST buses.
“We have taken these decisions in the spirit of society and I hope that more people will travel due to this metro travel discount.
“This facility is for senior citizens above 65 years, students studying up to class 12 and people with permanent disabilities."
Passengers in these three categories have to submit some documents for concession.
Valid documents like Government/Medical Organization Certificates for PWDs, Age Proof for Senior Citizens, and School Identity Cards along with PAN (Student or Parent PAN) for students are required.
