London/IBNS: Pro-India Sikhs tried to dissociate themselves from fragments of separatism as none rooting for Khalistan turned up outside the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom despite a call on social media.

The Pro-India Sikh forces did not turn up despite there being  the call for protests on April 29 on various social media platforms, media reports said.

UK Police told India Today that they were “aware” of the protest and also sent officers to the HCI. There was constant patrolling by the Commission, including police vehicles that were on standby. But there was no trace of the protestors all through the day.

In the meantime, on April 29, at a diaspora meet and greet with the Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh, a prominent member of the Sikh community acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the Sikh community, reports India Today.

Jitendra Kumar told the Indian news channel, "Every time on Gurupurab or such an event he (PM Modi) pays respect to the holy book. I have not seen any other Prime Minister do this."

"Every time he visits any country outside, the first thing he does is that he visits the Gurudwara to pay respects. That is what makes us feel so good. That is the reason we feel like going back to Punjab, back to India and thinking about India all the time."
