Srinagar/UNI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday is raiding nearly a dozen locations in Kashmir in the ongoing investigation into the terror funding case by banned Jamaat-e-Islami, officials said.
They said the searches are underway at 11 locations in Budgam and Baramulla districts of J&K .
"The raids are being carried out in the case of terror funding by Jamaat-e-Islami J&K an unlawful association under UAPA," officials said.
JeI was banned in February 2019 by the union government for five years under anti-terror laws.
Ahead of the high profile G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting from May 21 to 23 in Kashmir, which is the first major international event J&K’s special status was scrapped in August 2019, NIA has stepped up its crackdown against militants, their affiliates, overground workers and financers.
The anti terror Agency carried out massive raids in two different cases in the last two days.
On Tuesday, NIA cracked down on newly launched militant outfits in J&K- including the group behind the recent killing of five soldiers in Rajouri, and carried out searches at 16 locations across the union territory.
A day later, NIA attached the properties of three militants linked with various banned organisations.
