S Jaishankar holds bilateral meetings with counterparts from eight nations

New Delhi/Stockholm/IBNS: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts on the sidelines of the EU-Indo Pacific Ministerial in Stockholm, including from Latvia, Austria, France, Belgium, Romania, Cyprus and Bulgaria and Lithuania.

Jaishankar held talks with Ministers Edgars Rinkēvičs of Latvia, Alexander Schallenberg of Austria, Gabrielius Landsbergis of Lithuania, Catherine Colonna of France, Hadja Lahbib of Belgium, Ivan Kondov of Bulgaria, Bogdan Aurescu of Romania, and Constantinos Kombos of Cyprus.

In tweets, he said about his meeting with the Latvian FM that they spoke about strengthening the bilateral relationship as well as on the Ukraine crisis.

“Good meeting with FM @edgarsrinkevics of Latvia on EU-Indo-Pacific Ministerial sidelines. Spoke about strengthening our bilateral relationship and on repercussions of Ukraine conflict. Also discussed our multilateral cooperation.”

The Latvian FM, in a tweet, said the two discussed bilateral ties, political and economic cooperation and food security. As always good to meet Foreign Minister of #India @DrSJaishankar and discuss bilateral relations, political and economic cooperation, food security and the Russian aggression against Ukraine.”

Jaishankar on his meeting with Alexander Schallenberg of Austria, said the two sides inked agreements in Mobility and Migration and also discussed the Ukraine conflict and the Indo-Pacific.

“Warm and productive discussions with my friend FM @a_schallenberg of Austria. Signed agreements in Mobility and Migration. Discussed global issues, especially Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific.”

The Austrian Minister in a tweet said the Migration and Mobility agreement is a sign of the close bilateral ties.

“Met with Indian colleague @DrSJaishankar. Glad to sign our Migration & Mobility Partnership Agreement as a strong signal of our close bond: it intensifies cooperation in combating illegal migration while promoting mobility for highly qualified workers needed by Austrian economy.”

On his meeting with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna, Jaishankar posted that the two discussed PM Modi’s upcoming visit to France as Chief Guest for the Bastille Day celebrations in July.

“Glad to meet @MinColonna of France. Share her enthusiasm on making PM @narendramodi ’s visit for the Bastille Day a success. Exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific and G20.”

The French FM in a tweet said: “Happy to work with @DrSJaishankar on the important visit of India's Prime minister @narendramodi to Paris on Bastille Day.”

Meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, Jaishankar said the two discussed bilateral cooperation as well as Europe’s perspective on the geopolitical happenings.

“A good conversation on bilateral cooperation and Indo-Pacific with FM @GLandsbergis of Lithuania. Also discussed Europe’s perspectives of the world from our vantage points. Agreed to stay in touch.”
