Bengal teacher recruitment scam: ED summons TMC youth president Saayoni Ghosh again
Kolkata/IBNS: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Trinamool Congress youth president and Bengali actress Saayoni Ghosh to quiz for the second time in connection with the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, media reports said.
Saayoni has been asked to appear with documents related to some of her properties on July 5.
The TMC youth president was quizzed for 11 hours by the ED on Friday.
Crying political vendetta, West Bengal Minister and TMC veteran Sovandeb Chattopadhyay said, "Anyone can be summoned but my question is how many of them are being punished? They (BJP) are trying to create terrorism through ED and CBI. This will continue till 2024-2026.
"They should not forget that our leader is Mamata Banerjee who fought against CPI-M's terrorism. So who are they?"
Saayoni 'ready for 24-hour quizzing for sake of probe'
Coming out of the ED office, Saayoni on Friday said, "Why 11 hours? I am even ready to get quizzed for 24 hours for the sake of the investigation."
"I was summoned with some basic documents. They will summon me again soon. I have been asked to bring details of some documents," added the TMC leader, who joined the ruling party ahead of 2021 assembly elections.
Saayoni, who walked out of the ED office in Salt Lake at 10:45 pm, said she cooperated with the probe agency cent percent and she was ready to be summoned 100 times.
As per reports, she might be summoned again by the ED.
Saayoni's name appeared in the scam case during a probe into some properties of arrested and now expelled TMC youth leader Kuntal Ghosh.
Former state education minister Partha Chatterjee, former primary education board president and Trinamool MLA Manik Bhattacharya are among the people who have been arrested so far in connection with the scam.
Partha and his close-aide Arpita Mukherjee were arrested in the cases after a huge cash (about Rs 50 crore) was recovered from the latter's two flats.
TMC MP and national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee too was quizzed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the same case.
