Imphal: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was caught on camera molesting a woman inside a grocery shop in restive Manipur, media reports said.

The footage from a CCTV inside a grocery shop near a petrol pump has been doing rounds on social media.

The accused wearing a uniform and carrying an INSAS rifle, as seen in the footage, has been identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad.

"The incident took place in Imphal on July 20 at a shop near a petrol pump. The accused has been identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad. He has been suspended and a case has been registered against him," a senior officer was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The BSF has started an internal probe after receiving a complaint in the case.

"He has been kept in close arrest and departmental proceedings have been initiated against him," the official said.

Last week, a video of two women being paraded naked before being allegedly gang-raped went viral emerged in the Thoubal district of the state.

"The state police is making all efforts to identify the remaining culprits by raiding the suspected hideouts of those who have been identified," a senior officer, in charge of the probe, said.

The video went viral on the internet, leading to widespread indignation and anger.

So far, Manipur Police has arrested seven accused in connection with the incident, including one juvenile suspect.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Police said that they have filed several Zero FIRs regarding cases of sexual violence, NDTV reported.

However, the investigation has not made much progress as the victims and survivors have not yet come forward to cooperate with the authorities.
