Mumbai: The third meeting of the 'INDIA' alliance, formed by the key Opposition parties of the country, including the Congress party, will be held in city on August 31 and September 1, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole said on Saturday.
Addressing the media here, he said that this meeting has gained special significance since the Supreme Court stayed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname case.
For this, a group of five leaders from each of three allies of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, under the leadership of former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan, has been formed to oversee preparations in a meeting held at Worli today, he said.
He said Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) party chief Uddhav Thackeray, state Congress president Nana Patole, CLP leader Balasaheb Thorat, Opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar, former chief ministers Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan, state NCP president Jayant Patil, former minister Anil Deshmukh, MP Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena leader and former minister Subhash Desai, MP Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai and others were present at this meeting.
The MVA is ready to make the Mumbai meeting successful following the successful meetings in Patna and Bangalore, Patole added.
