Road constructed in Indian villages in last nine years can cover distance between Earth and Moon: Narendra Modi
New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi recently said in the past nine years, the tenure for which he has been in power, roads built in Indian villages can cover the distance between Earth and Moon.
"In the last 9 years, India has constructed as many roads in its villages, and I am talking about only roads in villages, that, combined, could cover a distance between the Earth and the Moon," he said while addressing the Indian diaspora in Athens last week.
"These many village roads have been built in 9 years," he said.
"The length of railway lines laid by India in the last 9 years is more than 25 thousand kilometres," Modi said.
"When I say 25 thousand kms, it may sound like just a figure. You should understand that India has laid more railway lines in the last 9 years surpassing the network of railway lines in countries like Italy, South Africa, Ukraine, Poland and Britain," the Indian PM said.
He said the level of investment India is putting into its infrastructure today is unprecedented.
