Bina/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will later Thursday lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 50,700 crore including a Petrochemical Complex at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd refinery in this town of Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district.

The dignitary is scheduled to arrive here at approximately 11:15 am.

At around 3:15 pm, he will reach Raigarh district headquarters in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, where he will dedicate to the nation crucial railway projects worth about Rs 6,350 crore.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone of 50-bedded critical-care blocks in nine districts of that state, besides distributing a lakh sickle cell counselling cards, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a communiqué.

The refinery, to be developed by incurring an expenditure of about Rs 49,000 crore, will produce roughly 1,200 kilo-tonnes per annum of ethylene and propylene, which are vital components for sectors such as textiles, packaging, and pharmaceuticals.

During the programme, Modi shall also lay the foundation stone of a Rs 460-cr Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone in Narmadapuram district; two IT parks (Rs 550 cr) in Indore; a Mega Industrial Park (Rs 460 cr) in Ratlam and six industrial areas in Shajapur, Guna, Mauganj, Agar Malwa, Narmadapuram and Maksi at a cumulative cost of approximately Rs 310 cr.

The Chhattisgarh projects include the East Rail Project Phase-I; third line between Champa and Jamga; third line between Pendra Road and Anuppur besides a 65-km-long electrified Merry-Go-Round system (Rs 2,070 crore) connecting the Talaipalli Coal Mine to the NTPC’s 1,600-MW Lara Super Thermal Power Station.

The East Rail Project Phase-I is being developed under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and consists of a 124.8-km line from Kharsia to Dharamjaygarh, including a spur line to Gare-Pelma and three feeder lines connecting Chhal, Baroud, Durgapur, and other collieries.

The rail line, laid at a cost of around Rs 3,055 crore, is equipped with electrified broad-gauge level crossings and a free-part double line.

The third line between Pendra Road and Anuppur is 50 km long and costs about Rs 516 crore. The 98-km-long Champa-Jamga line is worth approximately Rs 796 crore.

The Critical Care Blocks will be constructed in Durg, Kondagaon, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Jashpur, Surajpur, Surguja, Bastar, and Raigarh districts by incurring a total expenditure exceeding Rs 210 crore.
