New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said, "it is a matter of pride for all of us that today India has been able to make its place at world level and it is being acknowledged as the ‘Vishwamitra’".

"The whole world is looking for its friend in India and is experiencing its friendship," Modi said at the Special Session of Parliament in Lok Sabha.

PM Modi said the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ is helping India to unite the world.

He said India would be proud of the fact that the African Union became a permanent member of the G20 during India’s presidency.

“The success of G20 is not the success of any individual or party, but of the 140 crore Indians. It will be proud of the fact that the African Union became a permanent member of G20 during India’s presidency,” he said.

During his speech, PM Modi said the decision to construct this building was of foreign rulers, but people can never forget the hard work and money invested by the countrymen in its construction.

“Even though we will move to a new Parliament building, this old building always inspires the coming generations. It is a very emotional moment to bid farewell to this House. As we are leaving this House, our mind is filled with many emotions and many memories,” he added.

“The mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, many historical decisions, issues pending for decades and their solutions were also taken in this House. This House will always remember Article 370. One Nation One Tax, GST was also decided by this House. One Rank, One Pension, 10 per cent reservation for the poor happened in this House,” PM Modi said.

“In this Parliament where Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru spoke at the stroke of midnight hour which continues to inspire everyone,” Modi said.

The PM further said that the movement for the liberation of Bangladesh was supported by this House.

“This House had also seen the attack on democracy during the Emergency,” Modi said.

In his speech, PM said post-Independence period, many learned people raised various concerns about India.

“They raised apprehensions about whether India would remain united or not, whether the democracy in India would survive or not, but it is the power of this parliament that the world was proven wrong,” Modi said.

“Over 7500 public representatives have so far contributed in both the Houses. During this period, about 600 women MPs have enhanced the dignity of these Houses. Initially the number of women here was less, but gradually women have also enhanced the dignity of this House,” PM Modi added.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi remarked, “To make the country a developed nation by 2047, all the decisions for this will be taken in the new Parliament House.”

“We all are feeling an atmosphere of enthusiasm and a new confidence in the entire country. This session of Parliament is short but in terms of time it is very big. This is a session of historic decisions,” said the PM.
