"Preliminary investigation revealed that Vicky was killed over an old rivalry," he said.

He said that the deceased was shot five times, once in the temple and four times in the chest.

"A case has been lodged against five persons in this regard. Investigation revealed that when Vicky reached the gambling den someone informed the main accused Abhimanyu Singh, who along with his two aides shot the deceased," he said.

The SP said that four police personnel, including SO Ravikant Mishra, beat Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajendra Ram, constables Sarvesh Kumar and Komal Pal, have been suspended on charges of laxity with immediate effect.
