Congress has adversarial relationship with development: PM Modi in Chhattisgarh
Kanker (Chhattisgarh)/IBNS: Going all guns blazing against the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that the party's policy and conduct are characterised by "dynasticism, nepotism and corruption".
Addressing a public meeting in this district headquarters of election-bound Chhattisgarh, the Prime Minister averred, “The Congress has an adversarial relationship with development. For decades following Independence, that party ruled across the country from the panchayat level to Parliament but indigent households remained deprived of toilets, water, cooking gas and bank accounts."
"It is the Congress alone that can make false promises in the name of the holy Ganga. That party opposed the elevation of a tribal daughter to the nation’s highest Constitutional office. Remember and avenge that insult by punishing Congress. This mentality resulted in the tribal community being sidelined," PM Modi said while canvassing for BJP candidates for the upcoming state assembly polls.
Continuing his verbal assault, the Prime Minister said: "The Congress betrayed and abused OBCs including me!"
He alleged that ten years back, scams running into lakhs of crores were perpetrated at the Centre and "black earnings filled Congress coffers.”
In the context of the state, the Prime Minister alleged that the state witnessed the failures of the Congress dispensation over the past five years.
“During this period, only Congress bigwigs’ mansions and bungalows developed. Their relatives prospered. That party gave pathetic roads, dilapidated academic institutions and infirmaries, and scripted a bribery record with regard to government offices.
"There were inconsistencies in employment even as the law and order situation reached the nadir. The Congress obstructed construction of dwellings for the impoverished,” he underlined.
A ration scam is an example of the looting of the poorest of the poor for political self-interest in Congress-ruled states, PM Modi said, adding that the people were never allowed to benefit from Chhattisgarh’s immense mineral resources.
“You are also living without adequate electricity. The Congress hates gaumata and deceived cattle-rearers as approximately 250 govardhan plants are either inoperative or exist only on paper. A prohibition promise remains unfulfilled and a liquor scam occurred instead," he alleged.
The Prime Minister accused Congress leaders of speaking "untruth" in the context of paddy purchase and claimed there was "carelessness" in the distribution of title deeds.
