New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Voice of Global South is a unique platform reflecting the changing world in the 21st century.
Addressing the inaugural session of the virtual Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Modi said,"Global South has been able to find its voice after the concerted efforts of all Global South nations."
"The priorities of the over 100 countries constituting Global South are similar," he added.
The Prime Minister noted that this is the time when the countries of the Global South should unite for the greater global good.
India is hosting the Voice of Global South Summit in a virtual format with a theme of the inaugural Leaders’ Session of "Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust” and that of the Concluding Leaders’ Session, "Global South: Together for One Future”.
Highlighting the challenges emerged from the events in the West Asia region, PM Modi said India has condemned the terrorist attack in Israel on 7th October and laid emphasis on exercising restraint and on dialogue and diplomacy.
"India strongly condemns the deaths of civilians in the conflict between Israel and Hamas," he further added.
The Prime Minister said the issues concerning Global South were brought to the fore during the G20 Summit held in Delhi.
Modi stressed that "he cannot forget the historic moment when the African Union was inducted into G20 as a permanent member with India's efforts".
Prime Minister also announced that India will host the AI Global Partnership Summit next month.
Talking about the decision taken in the G20 summit he said, "G20 showed seriousness this time on climate finance and the Global Biofuel Alliance was also launched during the G20 Summit was a great step towards sustainability."
"India believes that new technology should not create any distance between the North and South and the era of Artificial Intelligence, there is a need to utilise technology in a responsible way," he added.
