India-Australia World Cup final: Pitch intruder wearing 'Free Palestine' t-shirt enters Narendra Modi Stadium ground, hugs Virat Kohli
Narendra Modi stadium witnessed a major security breach on Sunday afternoon during the World Cup final match between India and Australia when a pitch intruder, wearing a 'Free Palestine' t-shirt entered the cricket ground and even hugged Virat Kohli.
The man was also wearing a Palestine-flag-designed mask.
The t-shirt also bore a picture of bombings with the caption "Stop bombing Palestine", reported Money Control.
He was swiftly apprehended by security officials.
He was reportedly taken to Chandkheda Police Station in Ahmedabad.
The incident paused the match briefly.
With several celebrities present in the stadium for the final match, the incident raised serious questions over the implementation of security protocols.
The incident took place during the 14th over of the Indian batting innings.
However, broadcasters neither showed the clips, nor spoke on air by commentators.
On 7 October, a terrorist organisation, Hamas, launched a multi-pronged assault on southern Israel, which triggered a military confrontation between Israel and the group from the Gaza Strip.
After a prolonged aerial bombardment campaign on Gazan targets, the Israeli military launched a massive ground invasion of Gaza as payback. Thousands of Palestinians and Israelis have been killed in the conflict.
