State Polls Rajasthan elections 2023: 9.77 pc votes polled till 9 am
Jaipur/UNI: Polling on 199 out of 200 seats in Rajasthan Assembly began on a slow note as 9.77 percent of more than 5.26 crore voters practiced their franchise in the first two hours of polling till 9 am on Saturday.
As per the data of the Election Commission while maximum 12.97 percent votes were polled in Baran district, minimum Dungarpur witnessed minimum voter turnout of 6.76 percent in the first two hours.
According to the Election Commission officer voting which started at 7 am will continue till 6 pm.
Aman other districts 9.04 percent votes were polled in Ajmer, 9.95 percent in Alwar, 10.18 percent in Banswara, 7.90 percent in Barmer, 10.8 percent in Bharatpur, 9.24 percent in Bhilwara, 9.71 percent in Bikaner, 10.38 percent in Bundi, 9.27 percent in Chittorgarh, 10.34 percent in Churu, 8.93 percent in Dausa, 12.66 percent in Dholpur and 11.84 percent in Ganganagar.
Similarly, 12.01 percent votes were polled in Hanumangarh, 9.9 percent in Jaipur, 7.5 percent in Jaisalmer, 8.97 percent in Jalore, 10.66 percent in Jhalwar, 10.22 percent in Jhunjhunu, 8.54 percent in Jodhpur, 10.49 percent in Karauli, 11.03 percent in Kota, 8.97 percent in Nagaur, 8.35 percent in Pali, 10.34 percent in Pratapgarh, 9.92 percent in Rajsamand, 9.85 percent in Sawai Madhopur, 10.2 percent in Sikar, 9.54 percent in Sirohi, 10.36 percent in Tonk and 9.04 percent in Udaipur.
According to the EC officials polling continues peacefully amidst tight security as no untoward incident was reported from any district so far.
It may be noted that due to the death of Congress candidate and MLA Gurmeet Singh Kunnar from Karanpur assembly constituency in Ganganagar district, the election in this assembly segment has been postponed.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta said that polling is being held at 51,507 polling stations set up at 36,101 polling centers across the state. He said that while 10,501 polling stations have been set up in urban areas, 41,006 are in the rural areas.
He said that in order to conduct free, fair and peaceful elections, 6,287 micro observers and 6,247 sector officers and reserves have been deployed, who will immediately resolve any kind of problem by continuously coordinating with the polling parties.
Gupta said that 2,74,846 polling officers have been deployed for voting. While 7,960 pink booths were being managed by female personnel, 796 polling personnel have been deployed for specially-abled voters.
He said that 1,02,290 security personnel, including CAPF, have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting. He said that 69,114 policemen along with 32,876 Home Guard, Forest Guard and RAC personnel and 700 companies of CAPF have been deployed.
The CEO said that the 4,850-kilometer-long interstate border with Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab has been sealed and intensive checking is being done to prevent the entry of outsiders.
