After a close fight in Chhattisgarh, BJP surges ahead of Congress
Raipur/IBNS: After trailing behind the Congress in the early trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has surged ahead in Chhattisgarh Assembly polls.
The saffron party is leading in 49 seats as Congress leads in 40 constituencies.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is even trailing from the Patan constituency behind his nephew Vijay Baghel, a BJP candidate.
Four exit polls expected the Congress to cross the majority mark of 46 on its own.
The ruling BJP has crossed the halfway mark in Madhya Pradesh and is set to form the government in the state.
The BJP is also leading comfortably in Rajasthan.
