Oman Sultanate Haitham bin Tarik to visit India for state visit this week, to hold bilateral talks with PM Modi

The Head of State of Sultanate of Oman, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, will visit India with a high-level delegation on December 16, Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

He will be visiting India for the state visit at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu.

"This first state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to India marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between India and the Sultanate of Oman," read a statement issued by MEA.

"On 16 December 2023 His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will be received by President and the Prime Minister at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for a ceremonial welcome," the statement said.

During his visit to India, he will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister who will also host a luncheon in his honour.

"India and Oman share a longstanding history of friendship and cooperation, built on the foundation of mutual trust and respect, and strong people-to-people ties going back centuries," read the statement issued by MEA.

India and the Sultanate of Oman are strategic partners and the bilateral trade and investment relationship between the two nations has flourished over the years.
