A truck driver died and half a dozen others were injured when 16 vehicles piled up due to low visibility and dense fog in Etmadpur area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.
Police sources told UNI that the incident took place on Agra-Kanpur national highway late on Tuesday night around 3 am when 16 vehicles, including four trucks, two buses and auto-rickshaw, collided with each other leading to pile up.
"The incident took place between Shahadara flyover and Jharana drain due to poor visibility and dense fog," they said.
Police sources said that one truck driver identified as Umesh Chandra Yadav, a resident of Ghatampur in Kanpur district, was killed in the incident.
"Six persons were injured in the incident. Prima facie it seems that the incident took place as several vehicles were parked along the highway due to dense fog," they said.
Police sources said that the traffic on the national highway was disrupted due to the incident.
"Police reached the spot and sent the injured to a nearby hospital and resumed traffic by removing the damaged vehicles from the national highway," they said.
