Tragic accident leaves two students dead on New Year's Day in Telangana

In a tragic incident on New Year's Day, two students lost their lives and another was injured when their motorcycle was struck by an unidentified vehicle at Patancheru in this district in the early hours of Monday.

According to the police, a group of nine students from JNTU, Sultanpur, in the city had ventured to Durgamcheruv on three motorcycles to celebrate the onset of the new year in 2024. While returning to college in the early hours, one of the three motorcycles collided with an unidentified vehicle in foggy conditions, resulting in the immediate death of two students.

The deceased victims were identified as R Bharat Chander (19) and P Nitin (18) from Jangaon district.

The injured student, A Vamshi (19) from Khammam district, was admitted to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, police added.
