PM Modi to embark on 3-day Tamil Nadu visit tomorrow, 5-tier security in place
Chennai/IBNS/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving on a 3-day visit to Tamil Nadu on Friday to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games and launch various projects, besides visiting various temples in Trichy, Rameswaram, and Dhanushkodi on Jan 20 and 21.
Police have made 5-tier security arrangements for his visit with the deployment of 22,000 police personnel on bandobast duty in Chennai and other districts in the state.
PM Modi will be arriving at the Chennai Airport on Friday evening.
After a welcome reception by BJP leaders and alliance party leaders, he will board a helicopter and reach INS Adyar from where he will reach the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by road to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games, launch the revamped DD Podhigai channel as DD Tamil and also lay the foundation stone and launch projects worth Rs 250 crore for strengthening broadcasting sector in the country.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers, MPs and MLAs will take part in the function which is expected to last 90 minutes.
From Nehru Stadium, PM Modi will reach Raj Bhavan for an overnight stay. At the Raj Bhavan he is expected to meet BJP state leaders, including unit president K.Annamalai, Union Minister L.Murugan and other office-bearers to discuss the strategy and preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections due in 3-4 months.
On Saturday, he is expected to visit temples in Trichy, including the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam and the ancient Lord Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram and various other temples.
A PMO statement said: "PM to visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli; to listen scholars reciting verses from the Kamba Ramayanam in this temple; Pm to visit Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple; witness the chanting of the Ramayana in multiple languages and participate in Bhajan Sandhya; PM to also visit Kothandaramaswamy Temple, Dhanushkodi; Arichal Munai and various significant temples in Tamil Nadu on 20-21 January, 2024".
Meanwhile, a top police official on Thursday said security has been tightened ahead of PM Modi's visit to Chennai, Trichy, Rameswaram, and Dhanushkodi.
Tight security has been put in place at the airport, INS Adyar, Nehru Stadium, and at Raj Bhavan, and traffic diversions were also announced for Friday in the city.
A five-tier security arrangement has been made involving 22,000 police officers and personnel in Chennai.
