Indian-origin student Sameer Kamath found dead in USA, fifth case this year
An Indian-origin student was found dead in the woods at a nature preserve in the USA on Monday.
He was identified as Sameer Kamath.
He is a doctoral student at Indiana's Purdue University.
This is the fifth case of an Indian student found dead in the country.
Journal & Courier quoting Warren County Coroner’s office said Kamath was found about 5 p.m. Monday at Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve at 3300 North Warren County Road 50 West, in Williamsport.
Kamath was a U.S. citizen according to the coroner’s office as quoted by the newspaper.
Kamal's death is still being investigated.
Hyderabad student injured after being chased and attacked by four men in Chicago
Meanwhile, a student from Hyderabad has received grave injuries after being attacked by four armed robbers near his house in the US state of Chicago.
A video shows the student, who was bleeding profusely, stating that he was kicked and punched by the robbers. The robbers also snatched his phone.
The victim-Syed Mazahir Ali, a resident of Langar Houz in Hyderabad, had gone to the US to pursue a Master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
CCTV footage shows Ali being pursued by three of his attackers near his house on Campbell Avenue in Chicago in the early hours of Tuesday (Central Standard Time).
Four other deaths of Indian-origin students were recorded in the USA this year
Last week, 19-year-old Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a student at the Linder School of Business in Ohio, was found dead.
Earlier that week, Purdue University student Neel Acharya was found dead on the university campus, hours after his mother had reported him missing.
Vivek Saini, from Haryana, was hammered to death by a homeless man in Georgia's Lithonia on Jan 16.
Akul Dhawan, another Indian student, was found dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January.
