Bareilly remains tense after police detain Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Tauqeer Raza Khan over his 'jail bharo' call in Gyanvapi case
The situation remained tense in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly region after thousands of followers of Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Tauqeer Raza Khan hit the streets following the police detention of the Islamic cleric.
The cleric was detained for giving a 'jail bharo' call over the Gyanvapi case.
Stone pelting was reported in the Shahmat Ganj area in which one person was injured, police told India Today.
According to reports, police have started investigating the incident.
During the demonstration the crowd raised anti-government slogans," police sources told UNI.
District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar told the news agnecy some anti-social elements indulged in brick-batting after the protest ended peacefully.
He said the anti-social elements would be identified, cases would be registered and legal action would be taken against them.
