Patna/UNI: Senior BJP leader Nandkishor Yadav filed his nomination paper for the post of Bihar Assembly Speaker on Tuesday.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Cooperative Minister Prem Kumar, Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar, former minister Shahnawaz Hussain and senior leaders of JDU and BJP Yadav filed the papers before the Assembly secretary during the day.

The election for the State Assembly Speaker is slated for February 15 and the candidates can file their nomination papers till 12 noon of February 14.

As of now no other contender is likely to file nomination for the post and in all likelihood Yadav is expected to be elected unopposed.

The election for the post has been necessitated following removal of former speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary of RJD through a no confidence motion on Monday.

As it is BJP MLA Vijay Kumar Sinha who was made the Speaker after formation of NDA government in 2020 had resigned from the post after formation of grand alliance government in 2022.

Later after formation of the NDA government Awadh Bihari Choudhary was elected to the post who was removed through the no confidence motion on Monday.
