Kolkata/New Delhi/IBNS: Bengali film superstar-parliamentarian Dev has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the cattle smuggling case, media reports said.

Dev has been asked to appear before the ED officers in New Delhi on February 21.

A year ago, Dev had to appear before the ED in the same case in Kolkata.

Earlier, West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Suvendu Adhikari, had alleged Dev took Rs. 5 crore from Md. Enamul Haque, who is the prime accused in the case.

Actor-turned BJP MLA Hiran Chatterjee too has made similar allegations.

Dev agrees to contest 2024 Lok Sabha elections

After sending mixed signals about his interest to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for days, Dev agreed to contest to seek his third term.

Following a meeting with Mamata and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Dev agreed to contest the elections and that too from his existing constituency Ghatal.

Dev said the Chief Minister's assurance of the implementation of Ghatal Masterplan to tackle flood even if Centre fails to do it prompted him to continue in politics.
