TMC MP Dev appears before ED in cattle smuggling case in Delhi
New Delhi/IBNS: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dev appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the cattle smuggling case in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Speaking to the reporters, Dev said in the morning, "I am not afraid of the summons. I am aware that I am not involved in any kind of corruption. So I will come whenever I am summoned."
A year ago, Dev had to appear before the ED in the same case in Kolkata.
Earlier, West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Suvendu Adhikari, had alleged Dev took Rs. 5 crore from Md. Enamul Haque, who is the prime accused in the case.
Actor-turned BJP MLA Hiran Chatterjee too has made similar allegations.
Dev agrees to contest 2024 Lok Sabha elections
After sending mixed signals about his interest to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for days, Dev agreed to contest to seek his third term.
Following a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Dev agreed to contest the elections and that too from his existing constituency Ghatal.
Dev said the Chief Minister's assurance of the implementation of Ghatal Masterplan to tackle flood even if Centre fails to do it prompted him to continue in politics.
