New Delhi: In another jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its lone Lok Sabha member from Punjab's Jalandhar, Sushil Kumar Rinku, joined the BJP at the latter's headquarters here on Wednesday.

Along with Rinku, AAP MLA Sheetal Angural also crossed over to the BJP, in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and other senior leaders.

Speaking after joining the BJP, Rinku said, "I have made this decision for the development of Jalandhar. We will take Jalandhar forward. We will bring all the projects of the Central Government to Jalandhar."

"I am impressed with the working style of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and it is true that the promises I made to the people of Jalandhar were not fulfilled because my party (AAP) did not support me."

He also accused Punjab's AAP government of not supporting him in development works related to Jalandhar.

Welcoming Rinku, Puri said, "The situation is changing in Punjab and we all will work together to make India developed by 2047."

Welcoming the AAP leaders in the party, State President Sunil Kumar Jakhar alleged that Congress and AAP are "two sides of the same coin."

"Sushil Rinku joined the party today. He is the only Lok Sabha MP of the AAP and they should be ashamed."

Rinku, was elected to the Lok Sabha in a by-election last year. He had then quit the Congress to join AAP and fight the bypoll for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.
