PM has nothing to offer to people, could not do anything for poor in last 10 years: Congress leader Kharge slams Modi on BJP manifesto

Congress president  Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday targeted Narendra Modi over his Bharatiya Janata Party's Lok Sabha election manifesto and said the Prime Minister 'could not do anything for the poor in the last 10 years'.

“The youth is looking for jobs. Inflation is rising…He is not worried about these issues. He did not do any such work in his tenure that would benefit all the people of the country…It proves that he has nothing to offer people," Kharge was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Chairman, Media & Publicity Department of AICC, Pawan Khera, said, "This Sankalp Patra should be called 'Maafinama'. The Prime Minister should apologise to the Dalits, farmers, youth, and tribals of the country for not fulfilling the promise made in the BJP's manifesto during his 10-year rule."

"The PM had promised to bring back the black money by forming a task force, but electoral bonds came in its place. He promised to strengthen law and order in the Northeast, but violence happened in Manipur, which is continuing, and the PM is silent over it, and poverty has increased," Khera alleged.

"Another Jumla by the PM was to build 100 new smart cities, but China is building smart villages on the border. The people of the country are fed up with these false promises of the Modi government," Khera added.

BJP releases manifesto

Four days ahead of the commencement of the Lok Sabha Election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its much-awaited manifesto Sunday morning, underlining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on 'GYAN' - the poor, the youth, farmers and the women.

The manisfesto was released by the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP chief JP Nadda at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

PM Modi said the manifesto focuses on four pillars of Viksit Bharat- women power, youth power, farmers and the poor.

He said it focuses on the "dignity of life" and the "quality of life", the quantity of opportunity as well as the quality of opportunity.

"In this Sankalp Patra, a lot of emphasis has been laid on both quantity of opportunities and quality of opportunities. On one hand, we have talked about creating a large number of jobs through building infrastructure. On the other hand, we are focusing on high value services by promoting startups and global centres."

The government will focus on taking piped gas to all homes and providing free electricity through solar power, the Prime Minister said.

The manifesto said the Centre's free ration scheme will be extended by 5 years.
